Through scripture we know that God values our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to take care of and honor God’s temple. God’s words lead use to use our bodies and the gifts He has given us to achieve the will of God. In light of this, OKCS desires to see students maintain their health and fitness through physical education.
Physical Education plays a critical role in educating the whole student. Like other academic courses of study, physical education is based upon rigorous national standards that define what students should know and be able to do as a result of participation. Physical education also provides students with opportunities to master fine and gross motor skills, develop fitness, and gain a positive understanding about the importance of physical activity.
OKCS students have the opportunity to earn the Presidential Physical Fitness Award as well as the National Physical Fitness Award. These awards are based on benchmarks set forth in the President’s Challenge. Each year the students at OKCS demonstrate their abilities and we are proud of their efforts.
OKCS offers specialized physical education classes to all elementary and middle school students. Mrs. Herrera and Ms. Huscher teach TK-5th grade classes and Mr. Kirby teaches middle school. Please see their class pages for more details about the different areas of study.
