Olive Knolls Christian School will host their Annual Carnival this Thursday, May 3rd from 5:30 – 8:00 pm. Dinner is served 5:30 – 7:00 pm and fun and games will be 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Dinner Options include Chicken, Brisket, Tri Tip, Sausage, Beans, Salad, Rolls for $8 or 4 for $25. Also available: Hot Dogs, Nachos, Chili, Soft Drinks – $1 each.

Carnival wristbands can be purchased for $5 – good for all games and activities except the Rock Wall, which is $3. Fun New Games, Petting Zoo, Bounce Houses, Rock Wall, Face Painting & more!

All Tickets available for pre-sale in the preschool office.

Physical Education

Physical Education plays a critical role in educating the whole student. Like other academic courses of study, physical education is based upon rigorous national standards that define what students should know and be able to do as a result of participation. Physical education is unique to the school curriculum as it is on the only program that provides students with opportunities to learn motor skills, develop fitness, and gain understanding about the importance of physical activity.

Language

Good and appropriate use of the English language should be desired at all times by all Americans. In children, it’s an ongoing process of teaching and correcting repeatedly; and then some “practice makes perfect!”

Homework is important. It should be done as instructed and ready to turn in on time.

A word to the wise, instead of asking “Do you have any homework?” Rephrase, and ask, “May I see your homework?”

Don’t be a stranger, come in anytime; you are welcomed.

Bible & History

Bible class offers the chance to get a better look at God’s plan for our lives. In 7^th grade we take a “journey” though the Old and New Testaments, in 6^th grade we learn all about being “wise” verse “foolish” as we study Proverbs. 8^th grade is all about the Life of Christ and how we can “know” Him rather than just know “facts” about Him. Bible class is a place to ask questions, pray and learn what it is to have a personal relationship with God.

History class for 6^th is all about our ancient cultures and where “everything” started. We study ideas, traditions and enjoy several art projects that go along with the culture we are studying. 7^th grade is World Studies; again we see what it was like in the “old” days. The students learn about several different countries and their people. We enjoy cooking many new recipes that come from the lands we study. 8^th grade studies American History; from the discovery of America through the New Millennium (up to 2008). In addition the students spend one quarter learning all about our Constitution; we discuss just what it means to live in a “free” country and how to show respect and support for our country. We study history to know where we came from, what events shaped our country and how we fit into the world around us.

I know in middle school, notes and things do not always find their way home or to you. This is a great way to keep in touch with what is happening at school.

Third & Fourth Grade

Welcome to the 3rd/4th Grade Class!! Third & Forth graders enjoy learning about California History. We visit La Purisima Mission in Lompoc, California, and students will be given the opportunity to work on building one of the 21 California Missions. The third & forth graders will also explore insects, visit the Wind Wolves Preserve and we also plan to go to FACT to learn about Birds of Prey. What an exciting, fun-filled year!

Science

In middle school, science is full of hands on activities. We explore science in a practical context. All students participate in creating their own science fair project displaying their personal interests and discoveries in a scientific format. Through out the 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grades we focus on expanding our understanding of Earth Science, Life Science & Physical Science.

All posted information is subject to change as needed due to teaching adjustments. The verbally assigned homework will always overrule the website assignments if a conflict exists.

FUN! FAITH! FRIENDSHIP!

Welcome to the God Squad! We celebrate our Savior by putting on Bible Story “plays” for chapel and we are even the stars of our own music DVD video! Our class does other stuff too! Like body science projects, secrets to the alphabet and reading. We play shape and color games, preform puppet shows that teach math and number concepts, and you should see our craft/art projects! we have the most fun developing friendships and discovering how special we are to Jesus. God squad is the place to be!

5th Grade

5th graders are the “big” kids on the Elementary campus! There are many fun and educational activities that 5th grade participates in: Hume Lake in October for Outdoor Education, Bakersfield College Planetarium in April after studying the planets and outer space, State Reports, Science Fair, Kindergarten Reading Buddies, etc.
