Kinder Readiness
The Kindergarten Readiness Program (KRP) is a 4 week, half-day program that is offered two times in the summer: June and July. This is the final “push” to make sure children are ready for Kindergarten.
This program is open for any child entering Kindergarten in the fall.
For 1 ½ hours, one group of children are focused on anything that has to do with numbers….1-20 random recognition, counting by 1’s and 10’s to 100, clock, money, fractions, simple addition. Our second group of children are focused on letters and writing: letter and sound random recognition, blending letters together to read simple 3 letter words, writing in special concept, making sure names are written “the kindergarten way” (first letter capital, remaining lower case). After a 30 minutes recess/snack break, the children change groups. These concepts are reinforced not only through paper and pencil, but also through games and one on one interaction.
